Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli
Established in 1999 by the new national constitution, the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli is the upper chamber of the bicameral national parliament.
Mandate: 25 members are elected by secret ballot by the Gorno-Badakhshan delegation, the delegation of the capital and centrally-governed cities. Eight members are appointed by the President. The term of the mandate is five years. Eligibility qualification is 35 years and a university diploma. Every former President id a life-long member of the Majlisi Milli.

Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli
Established in 1999 by the new national constitution, the Majlisi Namayandagon Majlisi Oli is the lower chamber of the bicameral national parliament.
Mandate: Members are elected through general, equal, free, direct elections with personal and secret ballot. 22 of them are elected under the proportionality principle, 41 in one – mandate constituencies. Eligibility threshold is 25 years
